Travelers Aid Volunteers first Contact at LAX
(Hope Witkowsky - RSVP)

Who doesn’t love an airport? Confusion, noise and crowding add to the excitement of people coming and going places. What ever the reason, there may be times when you are in a foreign location and really need someone to point you in the right direction. Maybe you are in a country that speaks a different language as you and feel totally lost!

That is were our senior volunteers at Travelers Aid come to the rescue. They assist travelers who have not been met or who need help around the terminal or airport. They also assist with communication for the handicapped and foreign speaking traveler.

Volunteers are selected to be in this program because they have an ability to learn new skills and resources, are poised, mature and have a stable manner. They relate quickly to strangers and adjust to conditions in the Terminal.

If you are a person who loves to meet new people, wear a RedCoat, and act as an ambassador of good will for the county of Los Angeles; this is the volunteer position for you. Training is extensive, so you must be willing to go to training sessions weekly for three months.
